Why I said 'yes' to becoming a trainer

Reader,

I don't talk about this enough.

Not because I am shy about it, but because in this work I am always more naturally drawn to shining the light on the people I serve than turning it on myself. It feels more honest to speak about what I witness in others than to name what has brought me here to this space of breathwork.

But today I want to do that.

I have been walking the path of Spirit and service for a long time, informally since my early 20s and formally since I was 35.. I am now 51.

I have been formally walking the path of breathwork since 2018, three certifications: 1) Alchemy of Breath, 2) Integrative Breath, and 3) Seven Directions breathwork, and here I am today… August 2026, teaching this medicine for the last two and a half years.

It has not been linear for me, and it certainly has not always been graceful. There have been seasons of deep remembering and long seasons of integration. Seasons when I questioned everything, and those seasons will always return in cycles when I question my gifts, my calling, my capacity to hold what was being asked of me. These are seasons in my life where the work cracked me open in ways I did not anticipate and could not always explain to the people around me.

Through all of it, the breath was there.

Not always as a formal practice. Sometimes simply as the thing that kept me tethered to my body when everything else felt uncertain and helped me to feel safe. My breath has been an anchor for me. Often, it has been the doorway that kept bringing me back to myself.

When I first encountered Seven Directions Breathwork and the vision Steph Magenta was building, something in me recognized it immediately. Not just as a quality training program, though it is that. But I saw it as a container built from the same values I have spent my entire career trying to embody and steeped in Integrity and depth. This space has also been created where the weight of the invisible is taken seriously: ethics not as a policy but as a way of being.

I said 'yes' to becoming a trainer because I believe Turtle Island needs this. The World needs more breathwork faciliators holding this quality of space for a deeper reconciliation and healing.

I said 'yes' because I have watched what happens when breathwork is taught without depth, without ethics, without a genuine personal development journey built into the process. I have seen facilitators step into spaces they were not equipped to hold. I have seen people left without proper support after profound openings. I have seen the medicine mishandled, not out of malice but out of insufficient preparation.

I wanted to be part of changing that.

But there is something deeper underneath all of that. I have not really said it publicly before, and I want to say now.

This is my legacy work.

When I am gone from this earth, what I want to leave behind is not a list of credentials or a body of content.

What I want to leave behind are people and facilitators who are working with the breath as medicine in clean, beautiful, ethical ways. People who were trained with depth and devotion and who carry that into every room they hold, every person they sit with, every session they guide.

I want more breath in the world. Real breath that is held well and offered with integrity.

Every cohort I train is a contribution to that and we are offering our service to humanity. Every facilitator who graduates from this program and goes out into Turtle Island, North America, and beyond carrying genuine skill, genuine presence, and genuine care for the people in front of them is a thread in something much larger than any one training program. They step into a lineage that is Seven Directions as well as Divine Roots.

I believe that we are changing the world one breath at a time and one facilitator at a time.

I know how that sounds, but I need you to know that I mean every word of it.

This is also why the depth of this training matters so much to me. And I need to honour that this depth is not for everyone. It asks a lot of you, because we aren't just your generic run-of-the-mill training. And it's not because I want to make things harder or more exclusive; however, it is because the world deserves facilitators who are truly ready. Humanity needs people who can hold what arises, facilitators who understand the nervous system, the shadow, the contraindications, and the ethics. We need people who have done enough of their own work that they can be genuinely present for someone else's.

That is what our training of 400 + hours builds and what a weekend cannot.

This work has also asked things of me I did not anticipate when I said 'yes'. It has asked me to grow into a version of myself that is more visible, more accountable, more willing to stand fully in my medicine and claim it without apology. It has asked me to be a leader in the deepest sense, not just someone who teaches, but someone who models what it looks like to walk this path with devotion, with humility, and with a commitment to never stop becoming.

That is what I ask of my students too. I ask them to meet me here and become my colleague, and I know that this is a significant ask.

I am not asking you to be perfect. I am asking for a willingness to show up, do the work, and trust that the path will meet them.

If you have been feeling called to this training, I want you to know that I will walk every step of this with you. Not above you. Beside you.

That is my commitment, and that is my why.

And if this is calling you, if something in these words has landed somewhere real, I would love to have a conversation. Book a discovery conversation with me once you have looked over our page with the full training details, and I would love to chat more

I hope you can feel my passion in this note. Remember, there are soo many ways to serve the breath as medicine. You do not have to be like me, you need to be you... we have been waiting for you.

Reader, Before I became a breathwork trainer and stepped in as a medicine woman, I spent fifteen years in fundraising and development. I raised funds for organizations whose work centred on financial support and education. And in that time, I witnessed something that has never left me. A small gift, given at the right moment, can change the entire trajectory of a person's life. Not a grand gesture or a life-changing sum. Sometimes something modest like a bursary, a scholarship, a single...

Reader I literally just completed my Tobacco Dieta on the 29th. I have been walking with Tobacco formally since 2021. Tobacco has changed my life in so many ways. Tobacco continues to support me with clarity, cutting bullshit from my life, deepening my connection with the earth and all the allies, and grounding through all the realms. And as a result - protection and sacred boundaries even more so. This one was not easy and a big ooff lol and a forced surrender. That post-dieta glow! I am...

Reader, You love breathwork. Maybe you have for a while now or maybe it came into your life and quietly rearranged something in you that you are still integrating. Or did you find yourself talking about it to people who didn't ask? Maybe you notice what happens in a session and think.... not always, but sometimes, I wonder what it would feel like to hold this for someone else? hmmmm ...And then the thought passes, and you hear a voice... Because who are you to do this? You are not a therapist...
